Da Nang International Airport welcomed AirAsia’s first flight from Chiang Mai in Thailand on April 12, with 180 passengers on board.
AirAsia flying Da Nang – Chiang Mai direct
Under AirAsia’s plan, Chiang Mai is the next destination connecting Da Nang with Southeast Asia.
Ms. Laddawan Meesupwatana, Product Manager, Indochina Market, at AirAsia, said Vietnam has always been one of AirAsia’s most famous destinations thanks to its growing economy, large population, and tourism growth. “AirAsia’s vision is to create travel opportunities and strengthen networking for this market,” she added. “We currently operate flights on the Bangkok – Hanoi, Bangkok – Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok – Da Nang, Bangkok – Nha Trang, and Chiang Mai – Hanoi routes. This new route connecting Da Nang and Chiang Mai demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our flight network and providing easier flying opportunities between Vietnam and Thailand.”
Ms. Huynh Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, said Thailand is always among the leading source countries for the central city. Nearly 60,000 Thai tourists visited Da Nang in the first quarter of this year, up 35.7 per cent over the same period last year. “AirAsia’s daily Chiang Mai – Da Nang flights increases the total number of flights between Thailand and Da Nang to 63 a week,” she said. “Direct flights open up opportunities for people in central Vietnam to explore other Thai cities. Tourists from Da Nang and surrounding areas can now fly directly to Chiang Mai instead of transiting elsewhere.”
To mark the opening of the new route, AirAsia is offering promotional tickets starting from only VND1.04 million ($45) one-way, including taxes and fees. Bookings can be made at www.airasia.com or on the AirAsia mobile app from now to April 21, for flights from now to September 30.
Chiang Mai is the largest city in northern Thailand and a unique destination blending tradition and modernity. Due to its geographical location surrounded by misty mountains and local ethnic minorities, Chiang Mai a great experiential destination for couples or families who love to explore natural beauty and outdoor activities.
AirAsia’s first flight from Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur recently landed at Can Tho International Airport in the Mekong Delta.
